A Full Spectrum
We get this question a lot, but first, let's get the important legal jargon out of the way:
We are not doctors, we do not claim to be doctors, we cannot give advice, recommend or prescribe any routines or supplements.
Please check with your doctor first before adding any CBD full spectrum hemp flower product to your daily routine.
Check with your doctor especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on any medication.
Information in this guide is not intended, nor can it substituted, for medical advice.
The variations of cannabinoids, terpenes and other phytocannabinoids in the Cannabis Sativa strains will change how effective the extracts are, and why one product may work better than another.
Not all hemp products are therefore created equal, and this adds to the challenge of a standard dosing recommendations.
That said, there is some helpful information that we have included below; compiled by scouring the internet, and sharing what works for many others who have taken Cannabis.
Hopefully this information will help give you guidelines to figure out what dose makes a difference for you.
The serving size numbers chosen are somewhat arbitrary, and only help indicate how much of a particular component is in a measured quantity of the product.
This serving size number is certainly helpful to some degree, but not necessarily an indication of how much oil you should take.
More on how much to take & when to take it, can be found below.
So here's what other educational sites have been saying, in general, about taking a full spectrum CBD hemp flower product, and what we have experienced too.
How can I use a full spectrum hemp flower extract?
1. You can take it orally by mouth.
Place the oil sublingually (under the tongue) for 1 to 3 minutes, then swallow the remaining oil.
For pets, you can place a couple of drops along the back part of their gum line and tongue, which is highly vascular and will absorb things quickly.
2. You can also apply it topically over any area of concern.
For knee or shoulder pain: apply a few drops to the skin directly over the area of concern & rub into the skin.
Our skin has the ability to absorb CBD as well as other cannabinoids & terpenes, and this method can help direct the concentration to a specific area.
For the skin: If there are bacterial, fungal, or other skin issues, such as eczema or acne, these areas can be treated with a couple of drops as well.
Make sure your hands are washed and consider wearing gloves, to avoid adding any additional bacteria to the area of concern.
3. You can mix it into food.
This method will take longer for the effects to be felt, since it skips the sublingual method, where it can be absorbed quicker.
This option is still an effective and easy way for treating pets or a someone who won't hold the oil in their mouth.
4. It can be applied directly to your belly button.
A lesser known, but still effective method, & just a few drops are needed here.
This is known as the Pechoti method, since the pechoti gland, located behind the belly button, will help deliver essential oil components onward to over 72,000 nerves, plus glands & organs. (Source)
This is an easy and direct way to deliver essential oils like a full spectrum hemp flower extracts. Our extracts are already diluted in a carrier oil: Organic MCT oil; making this another option for delivery.
Now... how much do I take?
Please consult your physician or Veterinarian for recommendations. This can vary for a number of reasons:
The concentration of cannabinoids.
Is the product an isolate or part of a full spectrum profile (isolates require more, have a bell shaped curve, and wear off faster)
How the hemp flower is delivered
orally taken in a lipid (such as MCT Oil) allows it work longer, but can take a good hour or two, for effects to be felt, depending on the symptoms.
water or alcohol based consumables take about an hour to be felt, but are degraded in the liver faster, allowing them to wear off faster than a lipid (fat) based product.
topically, it can depend on the area of concern; for example skin treatment can experience faster relief than deeper joint pain.
inhalants work fastest, but wear off the fastest too (we also find solvents to be a concern here, with harsh effects being reported more & more frequently.)
The weight of the individual
The individuals diet
Tolerance levels of the individual
The individual’s body chemistry
The severity of the symptoms being treated
There is not a one dose fits all for relief and it can take some trial and error to find what works best for you.
This is why it's recommended to "Bee Patient" when trying any full spectrum hemp flower product.
Pay attention to how you feel, as well as how you don't feel anymore.
If in 3 to 5 days you don't find the relief you are seeking, slowly increase the amount every 3 to 5 days until desired results are achieved.
If at any point you feel discomfort, or your symptoms worsen, decrease your dose immediately, and observe how you feel after decreasing your dose.
Generally, most people do not feel relief for a good week. Some are not sure they any have improvements until after they have stopped taking their full spectrum hemp flower extract product all together, thinking it's all in their head (the placebo effect.)
Often, they notice symptoms have returned several days to a week after stopping; with their symptoms disappearing again, after resuming their dose.
Some people report it can take a week of consistent use again, to feel the results.
Often, the full benefits of a full spectrum hemp flower extract are not realized until after a few weeks of consistent use.
Patience with this process is a virtue, and remember: what worked for your friend may not work for you
